Honest Review on Wealthy Affiliate – My Personal Take On Wealthy Affiliate After Using It For a Year

I have been using Wealthy Affiliate premium membership for almost a year now. Today, I will share to you my Honest Review on Wealthy Affiliate (WA).

Speaking of honesty, I’ll tell you straight up that if you subscribe to WA through my link then I would get a commission so keep that in mind while reading my review. I’ll also have to let you know that cheating others to get ahead is a behavior that is against my personal belief and faith, so at the end of this article, it is up to you to believe me or not but everything that I will say is what I believe to be true.

Alright! Enough of the honesty disclaimer because I still hope to make a sale. What a bad salesman am I, right?

First things first! I want to make it clear that WA is not a “make-money-at-home-quick” program or a secret formula that will help you quit your job in 2 to 3 months! At the same time, I can’t deny that if you stick with WA long enough while diligently applying all the training that you will learn, being patient with the process, and proactively asking and giving help to the community, then it is very possible to earn enough income from WA’s affiliate program to replace your primary income (more on this later).

Whether you like it or not, your friends will have a lot of influence on you, so if you want to succeed in online business then you need to surround yourself with people who are honest, helpful, and knowledgeable on online business. The truth is, this is the main reason why I joined WA. The community in WA is helpful, respectful, and they know what they are doing.

WA provides a comprehensive step-by-step affiliate marketing booth camp but sometimes you will still have questions that are not covered in these training.

What do you do?

ASK the community!

Whatever you have in your mind, whether it is a question, a thought, an idea, etc, just ask politely and someone will answer you!

2. Wealthy Affiliate provides a ton of educational material to train you and prepare you for success

As said earlier, WA has a comprehensive step-by-step -affiliate marketing training. This training itself is more than 100 hours long to help you set up your website, guides you to write a blog, how to do search engine optimization (SEO), how to find and use affiliate links and many more!

On top of that, there is a 1 HR+ LIVE TRAINING which is good for you especially after you finished the training. In addition, the live training is up to date and it teaches other online business ideas that would help you diversify your online business knowledge.

But wait there is more. Seasoned community members are also posting blogs and training video on topics ranging from how to use Pinterest, how to properly do social media marketing, how to optimize your SEO and many more.

What is the big deal about this?

If you have an addiction to learning and love to invest in yourself, then you probably know several online learning and teaching platforms that are selling home-made and professional online courses and you know that the cost for learning can quickly add up!.

For example,

I personally use uDemy and Shaw Academy to learn something new especially in the field of social media marketing/digital marketing. Each course at uDemy cost around CA$15 to CA $100. Shaw Academy is different. It is a subscription site and the fee falls somewhere between $29.99 to $49.99 depending on the recurring subscription plan. I also use an ebook/audiobook subscription and this one charges me about CA$ 8.99.

There are months when I need to learn a lot in order to move to the next step and during this time I am shelling out more than CA$70+ from buying courses and paying a subscription.

3. Wealthy Affiliate has a SITE COMMENT option to help your blog get an SEO boost

Comments can improve your blog’s SEO. Search engines algorithm thinks your blog is relevant and reliable because people are engaging in it. The algorithm also considers comments as part of your blog’s word count so for example, you have written a 1500+ words blog and have a dozen comments, then your word count would skyrocket to 2500+. The algorithm loves this thus it will boost your SEO score.

The higher the SEO >> The higher the traffic >> The higher the income

What does SITE COMMENT do?

SITE COMMENT is a tool WA provides where you can receive credits for giving comments to other WA member’s blog. Then you can use this credit to ask for comments for your blogs from other WA members. BOOM you get comments to your blog!

4. Wealthy Affiliate uses WordPress for their site builder and you will have access to thousands of WordPress themes

That is a common question aspiring bloggers ask is…

Do I need to know how to do programming before I can start blogging?

And my sweet short answer is NO!

Before I started blogging, I have no idea how to program. One year later I still don’t have any idea how to do it. However, as you can see, my site looks professionally done (hopefully). I can’t claim the credit though because I just downloaded the theme from WordPress.

As a Wealthy Affiliate member, you will have access to WordPress which you will use to build your blog. You can also use WA’s native SITE Content creator to write your blog but you will eventually have to upload it through WordPress.

As a plus, not only you will be using WordPress to create your blog, you will also have access to hundreds of themes which is great because you can personalize your blog according to your taste and according to its niche.

5. Wealthy Affiliate offers a lucrative affiliate program

Do you know that some WA members make up to $5000 a month from WA’s affiliate program?

I want to make it clear though that these guys and girls work hard to achieve this and it took them about 2-3 years to achieve this. They also posted articles a lot and so much more.

My point here is not to prove Wealthy Affiliate can make you rich but to show you that you can make money from WA.

Here is how they make that much income.

Wealthy Affiliate has an affiliate program and they will pay you almost 50% of all fees paid by customers!

So, like any other affiliate marketing business, all you need to do is write a blog about wealthy affiliate, drive traffic to the blog, make a call to action to join Wealthy Affiliate, and hopefully coach those who signed up to get paid!

6. Wealthy Affiliate and its community will not hide the fact that it will take a lot of work and time to build a successful blogging business

Kyle, co-founder of Wealthy Affiliate talks about his experience in the affiliate marketing business, and he bluntly says that Wealthy Affiliate is not a get-rich-quick scheme instead he honestly said that you will need to put a lot of work, especially in the beginning. However, once you have written an article, then it becomes a passive source of income as long as there is traffic to that article. According to him, it took him almost 6 months of pure work before to earn cents, but as time goes, his income grew exponentially.

For me, this is a big deal because the owner of Wealthy Affiliate has integrity and he is honest on helping people succeed in their blogging/affiliate business. From what I see and experience, WA does not need a sneaky marketing move to advertise their product. All they are doing is add value to their customers and I think it honestly works like a charm!

Good Things About Wealthy Affiliate

Now that I have mentioned the great things about Wealthy Affiliate, I will now tell you the things that are good about Wealthy Affiliate. I say they are good because although it still provides great value to users, I still personally think that it can still be further improved!

1. You can do all of your blogging activity at Wealthy Affiliate but their platform can be further improved

Wealthy Affiliate provides superior blogging services but their site is somewhat outdated. Nothing too serious about this but the site gets distorted when you split screen your browser.

The good news is they just recently optimize their site for mobile devices. This is good because we know that they are doing their best to keep up with the ever-evolving technology.

2. Wealthy Affiliate offers hundreds of hours of step-by-step affiliate boot camp training (different from 1-hour LIVE training), but some of the lessons are a bit outdated

The step-by-step affiliate marketing program is great and informative, but there are lessons that are a bit outdated. I can’t fault them for this though because businesses update their business model regularly. In addition, there are no online courses that are resistant to this.

To be fair with Wealthy Affiliate, they do their best to negate the effects of this problem. For example, they have a “Request an Update” button on each training videos/lessons that allows users to ask Kyle and his team to update training when the users feel that it is no longer relevant or not working.

3. Wealthy Affiliate provides great services and products but at $40+ per month ($29 if you have a yearly subscription), it might be too much for newbies, people who are looking for get-rich-quick schemes, and undetermined people

Wealthy Affiliate contains a lot of information and its one-stop blogging platform provides exceptional value to its users. However, with its steep price, this is not too great for people who are not determined on becoming a successful blogger.

Since website takes time to mature and since it is hard to make money on a non-mature site, then people who are only thinking of getting rich in the easiest/fastest way possible might believe that WA affiliate is a scam for they are not making an income as fast as they wish they would.

Many people will try blogging for income in an attempt to create an additional income source because they do not have enough income.

Wealthy Affiliate will host up to 25 of your websites but do you really need 25 websites?

I don’t know if being able to host 25 websites should be a selling point for WA or not because honestly, who needs 25 websites when building 1 is already too much?!

However, if you are able to use them all, just imagine how much you can save. The average monthly web hosting fee is CA$10.82 or US$ 7.99. So if you are able to create

But what if…

You can offer your friends or clients a website and web hosting services and charge them an upfront fee for creating a website for them and charge them with a monthly hosting fee. Hmmm

Bad Things About Wealthy Affiliate

Okay, I only have two BAD things that I could say about Wealthy Affiliate, but I am pretty sure there is a lot that I don’t know. Like I said, just go on and sign up for a FREE Wealthy Affiliate Starter Account and try it yourself.

1. Wealthy Affiliate’s Site Content is not optimized for split screen

My first rant about WA is their site is not optimized for split-screen mode. Okay. I said about this earlier so I will not rant more about this. I’ll just send you a screenshot of what I am talking about.

2. Wealthy Affiliate’s “Grammar Correction Tool” is not so great

Another rant I have is WA has their grammar correction tool but I can’t rely on it that much. I mean if you are a native English speaker then their Grammar Correction Tool might be enough. However, if your English is your second language, then the native grammar correction tool will not be enough. You might need a stronger and more powerful grammar correction tool like Grammarly.
