1. Search or Open Google Search Console
The first thing you need to do is to go to Google Search Console and you can do that by either searching it on Google or typing https://search.google.com/search-console/about on your browser.
2. Click Start Now
Here is what Googles Search Console’s homepage looks like. Once you are in the homepage, simply click Start Now.
3. Log In/ Create an Account
Next step is to simply logged in if you have an account setup.
4. Select Open Report On the Homepage
Once you are inside of Google Search Console, you should be able to see something like what is above.
The next thing you need to do is click the Open Reports.
5. Click Total Clicks adn Total Impression
In the report section, you should be able to click Total Clicks, Total Impression, Average CTR, and Average Position.
For this tutorial, you would need to click Total Clicks and Total Impression.
6. Select Pages
The next step is to click the Page section. This section shows all the pages (and/or published posts) you have on your website. Since you clicked the Total Clicks and Total Impression in the previous step, the report will show how many times each page on your website has been seen in S.E.R.P. and how many times it has been clicked.
7. Click Impression to Sort it From High to Low
What you would do now is to click the Impression column to sort the page according to Impression.
8. Choose a Page
Click the page on the top of the list.
9. Open the Page to A New Tab
Hovering your mouse over the URL will cause options to pop-up. Click the “Open In New Tab” to open the page. You will need the page later, but for now, go back to Google Search Console.
10. Select Queries
Be sure the page you selected in step 8 is still selected. Now, click Queries. Doing so will make Google Search Console show all the ranked keywords Google detected in the page.
11. Click Queries Once Again to Sort Keywords
Again, click the Impression column to sort it from high to low.
12. Find Keywords With High Impression But Low Clicks
Identify which keywords has a high impression but low clicks.
13. Optimize the Page
There are two ways to optimize your blog.
The first way is to open the page, do control + F, then type the keyword. See if the keyword is in the blog. If not, consider adding a new section to use the keyword or paraphrase some of the sections to include the keyword.
The other way is to create a new blog article that focuses on the keyword, then find the keyword from the original blog (do 1st way if the keyword is not found) then insert the URL of the new blog to the keyword.
Do these steps and you can get to the top of Google Search faster!
Why This Strategy Works?
Google’s algorithm already deemed the page to be relevant and trustworthy which is why it is ranked high on the search result page. Now, your job is to ride the momentum by optimizing the keywords found in the page. The logic is the same if you write and link a new blog to the ranked page
